Lopes Pantry
Lopes Pantry is a brand-new initiative for the 2025-26 school year that aims to bridge the nutrition gap for students in need. Our goal is to provide nutrition assistance to students, staff or faculty who need help accessing food and other pantry staples. Referred students can access the pantry monthly, and work with our registered dietitian to learn how to best utilize their groceries to prevent waste and promote health. Food and nutrition are an essential need for all students to succeed, both in and out of the classroom.
On average, 1 in 3 college students experience food insecurity at some point in their academic career. The Lopes Pantry helps to reduce this statistic by providing supplemental groceries to students in need. Although we are not able to provide all the necessities one might need, our goal is to help fill in the gaps, so users do not experience the critical symptoms of food insecurity. On campus, food insecurity looks different for all students. Lack of access to transportation, financial resources, and nutrient-dense foods are just some of the barriers our students face when it comes to low food security.
Our goal is to empower Lopes to take advantage of the resources that are available to them and to not let food insecurity stand in the way of them reaching their goals and persisting to graduation.
Your donation can help our students achieve more during their time at GCU, which can set them up for success beyond their graduation date.
